6 of the Best Tools for Crafters

As with all endeavours, it is all about the tools

There are a million tools for all sorts of crafting. We are going to make this easy, I have narrowed it down to 6 must have tools in your crafting stash. Not for anyone else in the house to use.. keep them under lock and key if you must.. My son had a fascination for my Cutter Bee scissors.. I wound up hiding them.

1. The Cutter Bee precision scissors. I have had mine for at least 15 years. They are still sharp.

Rotary cutter with ruler. I use mine for fabric and paper. The rotary blades change out easily. I have only seen it here at Hobby Lobby

3. A Hot glue gun with a stand that is corded or battery operated . This is the one I have, It can be purchased in Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby or online. It uses the mini glue sticks.

4. A large self healing craft mat with grid lines that can be used keeping things lined up and square. Get the largest one you can for your work space. It helps to contain the mess.

5. Lighting makes a world of difference. The best readily available light I’ve found is the Ott Light. The replacement bulbs are also readily available and not very costly.  They come in all shape and sizes. Desk top, clamp style, tall and small. The lights can also come with magnifying glass. This is the one I am using. I love it.

6.. Last but not least, what my boyfriend would call my Barbie Tool kit. It has the all important (and a few extras) hammer, screwdriver, wrench, plyers and a retractable measuring tape. Again, keep this hidden, if you must...

This one is a good example but I know Wal-Mart, Home Depot and
Hardware stores carry something similar.

Of course, there are going to be craft specific needs; for example if you are decoupaging there will be certain things you will need for that craft. However; these 5 items will never steer you wrong.

Thank you for allowing me to help you get started on your crafting journey.
